Nick is best known for his turn in the 1976 miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man. He then went on to star in The Deep and appeared in 1979’s North Dallas Forty.

In 1982 he starred as Doc in Cannery Row and he also popped up in 48 Hrs.

After several films that were received well, he tried comedy with 1986’s Down And Out In Beverly Hills. A thriller followed, 1991’s Cape Fear, as well as the Barbra Streisand tearjerker The Prince Of Tides.
