Prince Harry revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton had a funny reaction when they found out he was dating Meghan Markle, who was then known for her role in the legal drama Suits.
In January 2023, Harry made headlines worldwide with the release of his candid memoir Spare, published by Penguin Random House.
The best-selling book, which became a Sunday Times hit, was ghostwritten by J.R. Moehringer — a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose past works have been adapted into films starring actors like Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Affleck.
The memoir quickly gained attention for its raw honesty, as Harry opened up about everything from stepping back financially from the royal family to his often tense relationship with his older brother William.

At one point, Harry recounted the unforgettable moment he told his brother and sister-in-law about his new celebrity girlfriend.
He shared that William and Kate were die-hard fans of the TV show that had made Meghan famous. In fact, when William first heard who Harry was dating, his reaction was pure shock — he even blurted out, “F* off!”**
In Spare, the Duke of Sussex wrote:
“Their mouths fell open. They turned to each other. Then Willy turned to me and said: F* off!”**
Harry admitted he didn’t understand their reaction at first — until they explained that they were more than just casual fans of Suits, the series Meghan starred in.
“I was baffled, until Willy and Kate explained that they were regular—nay, religious—viewers of Suits,” he recalled.
Laughing, he thought to himself:
“Great. I’ve been worrying about the wrong thing. All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph.”
They immediately started asking loads of questions. Harry said he told them a bit about how he and Meghan met — stories about Botswana, about Waitrose, and how he was completely taken with her. But, overall, he admitted he kept the details vague.
“What I told them was heavily redacted. I just didn’t want to give away too much,” he said.
