Two seemingly unrelated stories were suddenly placed side by side, and David Beckham had a “smart” response to the cold attitude of Harry and Meghan’s family.
The story begins with the biography House of Beckham by author Tom Bower. In this book, Tom Bower revealed the incident of David Beckham being “ignored” by Prince Harry at the 2018 Invictus Games, according to the player himself, at the “order of Meghan Markle”. The former British player said he felt “confused” by Harry’s behavior at the event held in Sydney (Australia) that year.
“Beckham arrived at the Invictus Games stadium alone,” Mr Bower wrote. “Arrived on the day scheduled to meet Prince Harry, he was confused as to why staff were deliberately keeping him at all costs, and of course, away from Harry.”
When Beckham questioned his longtime friend, he had no idea that “the prince had given orders that under no circumstances was any footballer allowed to come near him.”
“Photographs were taboo. The royal ‘butter’ was brutal. David Beckham was very confused. Why did Harry refuse to see him? The ban, it was later revealed, was issued by Meghan. She did not want any competition in the press from Beckham, and especially from his wife, Victoria.”

Beckham, however, did not dwell on the incident for long. According to the book, during the 2022 World Cup, Beckham “flew 7,600 miles from Qatar to Boston (USA) to join the new Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, and President Biden to celebrate the launch of the British royal family’s Earthshot environmental award.”
