DIY Pine Sol: Create Your Own Natural Cleaning Solution with Pine Boughs and Vinegar

I had a delightful foraging adventure in my yard today.

Among the treasures I gathered were a bunch of fragrant pine boughs. Little did I know that these simple greens would become the key ingredient in my homemade Pine Sol. This eco-friendly cleaning solution not only harnesses the power of nature, but also fills the air with the invigorating scent of pine. In this article, I’ll share with you the easy steps to create your own homemade Pine Sol using just pine boughs and white vinegar. Let’s get started!

Gathering Pine Boughs

Before we dive into the recipe, let’s talk about gathering pine boughs:

  • – Look for healthy pine trees in your yard or nearby wooded areas.
  • – Choose boughs that are free from any signs of disease or infestation.
  • – Gently pluck the boughs, being careful not to damage the tree.

By gathering pine boughs responsibly, we can ensure the health of the trees and continue to enjoy their benefits for years to come.

Homemade Pine Sol Recipe

Now that we have our pine boughs, it’s time to transform them into a powerful cleaning solution. Follow these simple steps to make your own homemade Pine Sol:

Ingredients:

  • – Fresh pine boughs
  • – White vinegar

Instructions:

  • 1. Gather a handful of fresh pine boughs and remove any excess needles or debris.
  • 2. Stuff the pine boughs into a clean Mason jar, filling it about halfway.
  • 3. Pour white vinegar into the jar, completely covering the pine boughs.
  • 4. Seal the jar tightly and give it a gentle shake to ensure the vinegar reaches all parts of the boughs.
  • 5. Place the jar in a cool, dark place and let it steep for several weeks. This allows the pine essence to infuse into the vinegar.
  • 6. After several weeks, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean container, discarding the used pine boughs.
  • 7. Your homemade Pine Sol is now ready to use!

 Using Homemade Pine Sol

Now that you have your homemade Pine Sol, it’s time to put it to good use. Here are a few ways you can incorporate it into your cleaning routine:

1. All-Purpose Cleaner

Mix equal parts of your homemade Pine Sol and water in a spray bottle. Use it to clean surfaces like countertops, floors, and bathroom fixtures. The natural pine fragrance will leave your home smelling fresh and clean.
