I was b.r.e.a.s.t.feeding the twins when my husband stood before me and coldly declared, “Get ready. We’re moving to my mother’s house.” Before I could understand anything, he continued as if it were the most natural thing in the world: “My brother and his family will move into your apartment. And you… will sleep in the storage room at my mother’s place.”

Part 2 of 2

Daniel bristled. “You’re all exaggerating. Alyssa is emotional. You know how she gets.”

Adrian stared at him like he was unhinged. “She’s recovering from birth. She almost passed out last week. And you want to shove her into a closet?”

Daniel’s voice shrank. “My brother needs a place—he’s going through something.”

“So is she,” Nathan said coldly. “Or did you forget she nearly hemorrhaged? We were there. You weren’t.”

Daniel froze.

Adrian stepped aside so Alyssa could speak if she chose. Nathan’s arms crossed, a silent warning.

Daniel finally muttered, “This is my home too.”

“For now,” Nathan replied. “But if you keep treating her like this, she’ll have a better one without you.”

Alyssa inhaled deeply. “Daniel,” she said softly but firmly, “I’m not moving into a storage room. And I’m done letting your family dictate my life.”

He frowned, but she continued.

“I’ve tolerated your absence. Your dismissiveness. Your lack of support. But this crossed a line.”

Daniel’s eyes flicked desperately around the room.

Alyssa lifted her chin. “You can stay here if you want. But I’ll be making the decisions that protect me and the twins. Not your mother. Not your brother. You.”

He exhaled sharply. “So what? You want me out?”

“No,” she said quietly. “I want you to understand I’m not your doormat.”

The strength in her voice surprised even her.

Daniel finally muttered, “Fine. I’ll stay with my brother for a few days.”

Adrian nodded. “Good choice.”

When the door closed behind him, Alyssa’s legs buckled. Nathan steadied her. “You alright?”

Tears rolled silently down her cheeks. “Thank you. Both of you.”

“You’re never alone,” Adrian said softly.

Alyssa looked at her sleeping babies and felt a quiet, steady resolve rise inside her.

This wasn’t just survival.

It was the start of taking her life back—one boundary at a time.
