‘In the past’: Major sign William set to reconcile with Harry

Part 1 of 2

A rare public comment from Prince William has reignited hopes that he may finally be open to reconciling with Prince Harry—though insiders insist any peace would come with firm conditions.

Signs William May Be Ready for a Truce

After years of deep estrangement, William appears to be edging toward the possibility of reconnecting with his younger brother. The shift reportedly stems from a combination of family pressure and recent health challenges within the royal household.

The 43-year-old Prince of Wales, who has not seen Harry in more than three years, surprised many by addressing their strained relationship during an appearance on The Reluctant Traveller with comedian Eugene Levy. While discussing his hopes for modernising the monarchy, William remarked: “I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past Harry and I had to grow up with.” He continued, “I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation.”

It was only the second time in seven years that William has publicly acknowledged Harry, drawing immediate attention.

Behind the Scenes: A Push From Charles and Catherine

According to a source who spoke to Radar Online, William’s remarks were intentionally offered as “an olive branch.” Both King Charles III and Princess Catherine have reportedly urged him to soften his stance and make room for reconciliation.

The push comes after both Charles, 77, and Catherine, 43, faced life-changing cancer diagnoses this past year. Catherine recently entered remission following her March 2024 diagnosis, while the King continues treatment. Their health struggles have reportedly led them to encourage peace within the family.

“There’s only so much resistance he (William) can put up against his own wife and father, who are telling him in no uncertain terms that enough is enough and it’s high time for peace,” the insider said.

A Tightly Controlled Approach

Even so, any attempts at reconnecting are expected to be carefully managed. Sources say William is “finally coming around to the idea” but insists the process must be formal and controlled.
