Even so, Zara and Mike’s affection for Australia has never faded. They flew to the Gold Coast in January for the Magic Millions racing event. They returned again in July to support the British and Irish Lions. In one photo taken before a match, they posed with the Melbourne Cricket Ground behind them.
Years earlier, Zara had hinted that a move could be possible once her competitive career slowed down. Speaking to Australian Women’s Weekly in 2019, she explained that relocating was unlikely while she was still competing because the travel demands would be too challenging. She added that if the right opportunity appeared later, she and Mike would seriously consider it. Mike expressed similar feelings at the time. He praised the relaxed lifestyle in Australia and said he loved how enjoyable life there felt.

Their connection to the country grew even stronger earlier this year during a visit to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Mike shared the experience online, reflecting on their time on Hamilton Island. He wrote that despite their many visits to Australia, they had never been there before. He described the trip as amazing. He also wrote that Queensland seemed to offer everything. The couple had their first chance to explore the Great Barrier Reef from the water and he called the experience unreal.
Whether the Tindalls will ever relocate remains an open question, but for now, King Charles appears reassured. The family stays based in Britain. Their link to Australia continues to grow. And the monarch’s hope of keeping them close, at least for the foreseeable future, seems to have been fulfilled.
