List of royals who could soon lose their titles – including Prince William’s kids

Part 2 of 2

Despite their royal lineage, neither undertakes official duties on behalf of the Crown.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also reportedly at risk. Having stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, Harry and Meghan have since pursued independent careers, including their production deals and Meghan’s recent Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

Royal expert Tom Sykes told The Daily Beast: “Meghan and Harry will also see their dukedoms and HRHs formally revoked by the new king.”

Tensions resurfaced earlier this year when Meghan reportedly signed a gift basket note using her HRH title — something a palace source described as “a clear breach” of protocol. “There is no way King William will stand for this,” the source added. “The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found.”

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet

Their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four, could also lose the titles they were granted at birth. Insiders suggest this would reflect their parents’ distance from the core royal institution rather than any personal issue with the children themselves.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

Perhaps most surprisingly, it’s been claimed that William might even reconsider titles for his own children.

Sykes suggested that George, Charlotte, and Louis may have their titles “informally parked” until adulthood — giving them the choice to become working royals or to live as private citizens.

While such a decision might seem drastic, it wouldn’t be unprecedented. Princess Anne made the same choice for her own children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, who were raised without royal titles and have gone on to live largely private, successful lives.

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment on the reports.
