Meghan Markle reveals biggest ‘regret’ about her time in the Royal Family

Part 2 of 2

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

Meghan Markle had previously spoken about her major regret as a senior royal.

After stepping down from their duties as working royals in 2020, Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, moved to California to seek financial independence.

Initially causing shockwaves in the UK, it was their interview with Oprah Winfrey that truly startled the world.

In the interview with the renowned US presenter, Meghan and Harry revealed shocking details about their time in the Royal Family, including conversations within the family about the potential skin color of Prince Archie.

Meghan also revealed that she regretted trusting the Royal Family to protect her from negativity, which worsened after her 2018 Windsor wedding to Prince Harry.

She told Oprah, “That was really hard to reconcile, because it was only once we were married and everything started to really worsen that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family.

“They weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband.”

Towards the end of the interview, she said, “I regret believing that, because I think had I really seen that that wasn’t happening, I would have been able to do more, but I think I wasn’t supposed to see it.

“I wasn’t supposed to know, and now because we’re actually on the other side, we’ve actually not just survived but are thriving.”

Though the Palace usually does not comment on interviews, Queen Elizabeth II released a statement following Meghan’s interview with Oprah.

It stated, “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
