Inside the Sussex Family’s Heartwarming Home Traditions
While public glimpses of their family life are rare, Meghan recently shared a few personal details during an event near their Montecito home.
She revealed that one of their favorite rituals is a dinner table tradition called “rose and thorn.” Each night, Archie and Lilibet share the best part of their day — the “rose” — and something that didn’t go so well — the “thorn.”

“Especially with young children, it’s a great opener,” Meghan explained. “You know, when you get to that stage where your kids just give you a yes or no answer.”
According to Meghan, their daughter Lilibet, now four, already shows a strong personality. “Our daughter’s incredible,” she said with a smile. “One evening, when I asked her for her rose and thorn, she just said, ‘My day was a blast.’”
Another family favorite is the “healing blanket,” a gift from entrepreneur Victoria Jackson, which the Sussexes now treat as a household comfort ritual. Whenever someone feels unwell, Meghan said, they reach for the blanket as a symbol of warmth and care.
These small, intimate glimpses reveal a family trying to balance public attention with private simplicity — a couple chasing not fame or formality, but connection, comfort, and the kind of moments that make a house a home.
