“Lili and I actually made this batch together,” Meghan said as she scooped strawberry jam into cups. “She picked these with me, she is like, ‘No, Mamma, I will stir it,’ but she is proud—that part feels good.”

King Charles has long expressed a deep love for gardening. Years ago, he took it upon himself to create the gardens at Highgrove, and his interest in flowers and tree planting remains strong to this day.

“Before you rush into things, see what you like and don’t like and then get stuck in. For me it’s the most marvellous, therapeutic business. You can get reward from it, but you can also be driven mad by it,” Charles once shared when giving gardening advice.

The King is also a passionate advocate for conservation.

“We’re losing so much that’s really precious. Just one example is the wildflower meadows all over this country. Most of them have disappeared. Dug up, ploughed up, sprayed. At the time, in the 60s and 70s, I hated it to such a degree. It seemed to be going too far,” he said.

“Eventually it all comes round again and everybody’s running around like headless chickens, trying to save desperately what’s left… Suddenly they realise what has been done and the damage that’s been done. You want to be able to use nature as your assistant, but you want to give back in return for what you take.”

As previously mentioned, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been quite private when it comes to sharing images of their children on social media. For last year’s Christmas card, they released a photo that kept their children’s faces hidden. However, with Meghan’s new Netflix series now out, some recent photos of their kids have made their way into the public eye.

On Instagram, Meghan posted a sweet snapshot of three-year-old Lilibet sitting on her father’s lap in a boat, as Harry lovingly kissed her on the head.

Lilibet was dressed in a pink top and floral-patterned leggings, while Harry wore casual shorts, a t-shirt, sunglasses, and a cap.

“Happy International Women’s Day! Celebrating the strong women around us & the girls with dreams who will become women with vision. Also thanking those who uplift us every day,” Meghan wrote.

While many fans were delighted to see the tender moment between father and daughter, the couple also received criticism. Observers quickly pointed out that Lilibet wasn’t wearing a lifejacket, calling the move “irresponsible.”

“Isn’t it illegal not to have a lifejacket on your child? Very irresponsible,” one user commented, according to Sky News.

“My family has been in the boating industry for four generations. A very big no-no — things happen in a blink of an eye,” another added.

A third person criticized harshly: “The self-absorbed, brain-dead parents didn’t put a lifejacket on that child.”

Could be illegal

It’s not clear where the photo of Harry and Lilibet was taken or what the exact circumstances were. However, according to Sky, California law states that children under 13 must wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket while on a moving recreational boat, regardless of its size. The only exceptions are if the child is inside an enclosed cabin or secured with a harness on a sailboat. Anyone who violates this law could face a fine of up to $250.

Many social media users also raised concerns about Lilibet not wearing a life jacket and speculated that the image might have been digitally altered.

“As ever, it’s always weird. The yellow circle shows Harry’s left hand, and the green circle shows another two left hands,” one person commented.

Although Harry and Meghan faced backlash, there were still those who came to their defense.

“While safety is crucial, it’s also important to recognise that not every moment in a family’s life will be perfect or picture-perfect. Let’s focus on the overall well-being of children rather than nitpicking isolated incidents,” one user wrote, while another commented simply, “Bunch of Karens.”
