‘Harry can’t understand his father’
Despite cold relations within the royal family, Prince Harry has openly shared his wish to mend ties.
“I would love reconciliation with my family,” he said in a recent BBC interview. “There’s no point continuing to fight any more. Life is precious.”
However, royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith thinks Harry misunderstands his father’s nature.
“It shows a lack of insight on Harry’s part because Charles is an empathetic person,” she told The Times. “If Harry can’t understand his father to that degree, there’s a problem.”
Tensions have grown so much that Harry and King Charles haven’t seen each other in more than 15 months, worsened by ongoing legal battles.
Harry recently lost his appeal to restore taxpayer-funded police protection for his visits to the UK.
This case has increased the strain. Harry says the king’s hesitation partly comes from “security stuff.”
With William, Kate, and Camilla reportedly against Harry’s return to the royal family, even a sympathetic King Charles is cautious.
