Princess Anne Quietly Upstages Kate Middleton After Making One Mysterious Move

While Kate Middleton is often praised for her elegant outfit repeats, this time she has officially been outmatched. Princess Anne has once again proven the timelessness of her style. During her recent visit to Singapore, the 75-year-old Princess Royal appeared in a tan safari suit she originally wore more than half a century ago — subtly reminding the world why she has long been considered one of the most consistent and practical dressers in the royal family.

Anne and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, were in Singapore to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between the U.K. and Singapore, following their Remembrance Day engagements in Australia.

It was at the Rolls-Royce Seletar Campus on November 13 that a royal observer noticed Anne’s familiar outfit. Photos from July 1973 show her wearing the same suit at a polo match in Windsor with her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips. She was seen in it again in 1975 at Heathrow Airport after returning from an equestrian event in Boston.

Over the years, Anne has adapted the look by pairing it with a blouse, a retro pointed collar, and rolled-up sleeves — giving a modern touch to a cherished vintage piece.

During the Singapore visit, Anne and Sir Tim also took part in pilot-training simulations at the Airbus Asia Training Centre. Known as the “hardest-working royal,” the Princess Royal continues to show commitment to her duties even at 75.

Earlier this year, Anne marked her milestone birthday by debuting a new hairstyle, exchanging her signature bouffant for an elegant chignon. And in September, she made one of her most memorable appearances of the year while visiting the South Wales workshop of luxury lingerie brand Edge o’ Beyond in her role as president of the U.K. Fashion and Textile Association.

Founder Naomi De Haan shared that the Princess Royal was “very cool, very interested in everything,” and noted that Anne appeared “very feminist” during their discussion on craftsmanship and the challenges surrounding censorship of the female body.

Princess Anne’s enduring approach to fashion — thoughtful, practical, and quietly bold — continues to stand out, just as it has for decades.
