Queen Camilla once broke her leg after falling into a hole: Inside her health over the years

Part 2 of 2

“As you get older, it comes to no surprise you should be doing less strenuous exercise as it could cause muscular pain and your bones become much more fragile.”

“Furthermore, Camilla and Charles are known to love to spend their time walking the dogs or walking in the countryside. Walking is one of the best exercises you can do, not only does it get your body moving but it also is gentle on your body,” he added.

“Outdoor walking is amazing for improving your fitness levels, burning fat, improving mental health, aiding sleep and getting your much-needed nature fix.”

“I think it’s very important as you get older to take exercise and stretch”

When Camilla visited Singapore in 2017, she talked about her exercise regimen.

“Yoga is really beneficial for you, isn’t it? It’s healthy for your muscles and helps you become less stiff as you age,” she explained. It greatly increases your suppleness. Stretching and exercise are crucial as you age, in my opinion. I do yoga occasionally. Pilates and yoga in small doses.

Although Camilla may be susceptible to osteoporosis, she has also experienced other health problems.

Camila has reportedly struggled with recurrent sinusitis for a long time. According to Express, it was discovered by a royal admirer at the yearly Armistice Day celebrations in 2021.

She had to postpone a number of royal events in 2012 because of sinusitis.

“The Duchess of Cornwall has developed sinusitis and a severe middle ear infection over the last few days, which means she will not be able to carry out her engagements in London this evening and tomorrow,” a spokesperson said.

Even while sinusitis may not require hospitalization, Camilla has experienced hospitalization.

For instance, she underwent a hysterectomy in 2007. However, it paled in comparison to the ordeal she faced in 2010.

Camilla broke her leg while out walking at the Balmoral in April 2010, necessitating her transfer to the Aberdeen hospital. The former duchess “took a tumble,” according to the Guardian.

When Queen Camilla fell into a hole in Scotland, the villagers rescued her.

“She was walking in slippery conditions in Scotland, and took a tumble and hurt her leg,” Camilla’s official spokesperson said.

“Today, following doctor’s advice, Her Royal Highness had an x-ray which showed a twisted fracture of the fibula. Consequently, Her Royal Highness is wearing a plaster cast and will be for six weeks. She has been advised not to put weight on her leg. Her Royal Highness has every intention of carrying out all planned engagements.”

For weeks following, the then-duchess was unable to attend royal events without the aid of a wheelchair. However, what actually took place?

In an article published in Vanity Fair later that year, author Bob Colacello said that Camilla had been saved by two ladies working alone on the route.

“When … asked her about breaking a leg in Scotland last fall, [Camilla] explained that she had fallen in a hole while walking the moors and was rescued by two very nice ladies.”

Camilla reportedly said, “They were so kind. They took me to a hospital and stayed with me the whole time — and not one word to the press! I was so grateful I sent each of them a case of champagne.”

The first few months of 2024 have been extremely difficult for the royal family. Nearly two years have passed since Queen Elizabeth’s passing, and the longstanding monarch was widely lamented.

In Camilla’s case, she had more than just a difficult mental period following the queen’s passing. It was also disclosed that she experienced physical pain.

Charles and Camilla’s UK tour included stops in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland prior to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

After touring throughout Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, Camilla reportedly suffered a broken toe and withdrew to her house in Raymill, Wiltshire, according to The Telegraph.

Camilla was in “quite a lot of pain” after breaking her toe.

Prior to Queen Elizabeth’s death, the queen had a broken toe, but the newspaper said that she persevered and carried out her duties in spite of the agony.

“She is in quite a lot of pain but she is just getting on with it. It is unfortunate timing to say the least but she’s been an absolute trouper,” a source told The Telegraph.

A spokesman for the King said: “we won’t comment on medical conditions:”

Perhaps Camilla’s ongoing performance of her tasks wouldn’t have surprised anyone if they primarily involved sitting down. But part of her duties involved standing for extended periods of time.

During this stressful time, Camilla met people who gathered outside the palace and participated in all important rituals. She deserves praise for overcoming her injury to accomplish all of this.
