The Truth Comes Out
Then, one morning, everything changed.
I woke up early to find Jason asleep on the couch, still in his work clothes. His phone lay buzzing on the floor. Instinctively, I picked it up.
Curiosity turned to panic as I opened our banking app—our entire savings account was gone. My hands trembled as I scrolled through the transaction history. Transfer after transfer to an unknown account.
I shook him awake. “Jason, wake up. Where is our money?”
He sat up groggily, his face turning pale when he saw my expression. “Davina, I… I can explain.”
“Then explain,” I demanded, my voice shaking.
Before he could answer, my father walked in, his arms crossed. His voice was cold. “Tell her, Jason. Or I will.”

The Betrayal
Jason finally confessed. He had been involved with another woman—she was pregnant. Her brothers had been threatening him, demanding money, saying they’d ruin his career if he didn’t pay.
I felt the air leave my lungs. The man I had trusted, loved, and built a future with had destroyed everything.
With my father’s support, I made the painful decision to leave. I filed for divorce, knowing I deserved better than a marriage built on lies.
The journey wasn’t easy, but I leaned on my family for strength. They reminded me that I deserved honesty, respect, and love—things Jason had failed to give me. And with time, I found the strength to move forward.
