Diatomaceous Earth: A Natural Bedbug Killer

Why does it work so well?
It may look like plain white powder, but diatomaceous earth is made from tiny fossilized sea creatures. It’s rough on a microscopic level, which makes it deadly for bugs. When bedbugs come into contact with it, it damages their shells and dries them out—killing them completely. Unlike sprays that just scare bugs away, this stuff wipes them out for good.
How to use it the right way:
- Clean first – Vacuum your mattress, carpets, cracks, and anywhere bedbugs might hide.
- Sprinkle lightly – Dust a thin layer of food-grade diatomaceous earth on your mattress, along floor edges, behind furniture, and in small hiding spots.
- Let it sit – Give it a few days to work. Don’t vacuum right away.
- Clean up – Once the bugs are gone, vacuum up the powder. You can repeat if needed.
Safety Tip: Diatomaceous earth is safe for people and pets, but try not to breathe in the powder when applying.
