Royal watchers believe they’ve spotted yet another change in Kate Middleton’s appearance — and this time, it’s sparked a fresh wave of conspiracy theories.
The Princess of Wales’ hair has been the subject of endless online chatter for weeks. It began in early September when she stepped out with a noticeably lighter look, swapping her usual deep brunette shade for a softer tone.
But eagle-eyed fans had already noticed the shift back in August, when she was photographed through a car window on her way to a church service in Scotland.
First Public Debut of the New Look
Kate officially debuted the lighter hairstyle on September 4 during a visit to the new gardens at London’s Natural History Museum. At first, fans thought the transformation was clear.
Yet just a few days later, when she joined Prince William on September 8 at the National Federation of Women’s Institutes to mark the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, photos showed her hair looking much darker again.
The apparent reversal left many confused — until it became clear that lighting and angles were likely the culprit, as other photos from the same day showed her hair looking blonde once more.

Photos Edited and Confusion Grows
Things became even murkier when an image of Kate attending the Duchess of Kent’s funeral on September 16 circulated online. The photo had been altered to make her black outfit appear navy blue and her hair look silver.
